Prerequisites
​1. INSTRUMENT PROFICIENCY​

Working knowledge of music theory

Competent ability on chosen instrument
​​2. ELIGIIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be enrolled at a pre-tertiary level (e.g polytechnic, Junior College), or lower.

Applicants must be below 17 years of age, and must seek parental consent to participate in this programme

Applicants must be Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents or legal residents (e.g. student visa) of Singapore.
​4. COMMITMENT TO SCHEDULED DATES
Successful candidates must commit to all rehearsals and lessons

Audition Information

Pre-screening Recording
All applicants are to submit the following:
- a recording (video preferred) of themselves improvising 2 choruses over F blues using the following backing track:

AND
- a recording (video preferred) of a short musical piece. This piece does not have to be jazz, but should showcase the applicants’ musicality and ability on the instrument of choice.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an in-person audition on Saturday, 10 January 2026.

Live Audition Requirements for Vocalists
- perform one jazz standard or bebop tune at a medium or fast tempo
- perform one jazz ballad
- improvise over a blues tune with a backing band
Live Audition Requirements for Instrumentalists
- perform one standard or bebop tune at a medium or fast tempo, inclusive of 2 improvised choruses
- sight reading
- improvise over a blues tune with a backing band
